tag challenge for October

Nicole gave us a good challenge this month for our tag swap. we had to include something that moved....like a hinge or door or slide. as well as something noisy or to feel.

what a challenge!

i found some rubber spiders and worked from there on my tag.

black on black. loving that look for halloween.

you can see that rubber spider on top?

i hand cut several pumpkins from last years' My Mind's Eye paper. then i die cut some swirls out of other halloween papers. i had to die-cut some swirls from black solid paper too...for the reverse side. you will see why later.

i also had a "why-didn't-i-think-of-that-before?" moment. i have a Fiskars' BAT edge punch. i bought it at least 3 years ago. when i use it, i punch an entire edge at a time. then toss the remnants into the garbage. not ever thinking exactly what was in that pile. until now.
i was tossing mini bats! i had to chuckle that it took me 3 years to figure it out. case of Mommy Brain perhaps?

of course this edge punch has been discontinued and has been replaced by new designs.

if you pull up on the rubber spider...the pumpkins and vines also move with it.

revealing.....

this!

i had been hoarding some magnetic snaps from Basic Grey for a few years. i had only used one set on Kiara's baby album page in 2007. so...i think they are still available...perhaps only online and at a cost? or you could just by slim magnets from a hobby or craft store.

you can see the snap closures in the last photo of my tag. they worked great! i did add some extra glossy accents to make sure they did not fall off.

i first cut out a tag shape from very stiff chipboard. (save the stiff cardboard from artist paper books...they are perfect!). i also cut pattern paper for the back. i used a remnant from our US design team kit for behind the swirl cut out. i used Sookwang tape for the edges of the black paper and foam pop dots for around the swirl. then i was able to poke some pins into the foam, and add the witches boots too. i did have to cut the pins down with some wire cutters.

i was pleased with how it turned out. i was not sure if i would be able to meet this challenge!

my only regret is not making an extra one for me! although i may....i still have some rubber spiders left. but part of me wants to start making other decorations....what's a scrapper to do?!

i can't wait to share what the other ladies made! Pat put up a photo of hers. it is amazing!

why don't you take on this tag challenge with us? then leave a comment directing me to a photo of yours. since Halloween is only a few weeks away....i'll not limit your design to a halloween theme. any theme will work!

as a side note...
all of these photos were taken with my iPhone4. {not too bad} my camera is in for repair. a very sad time for me. i only hope the news is good. i really miss it. thank goodness my camera phone is pretty decent. even though it isn't the same thing.
