love is....

when i was looking for photos for this layout i was sad to realize that it has been over a year since my husband and i have had our photo taken together. even sadder that we have not taken a photo together after i realized that. it will happen. hopefully soon!

i was thrilled to discover that these cute photos of my daughter in my wedding dress coordinated perfectly with the paper i chose. phew! she is an energetic girl, but became suddenly regal after she had the dress on. no running or jumping. it was all about the posing.

this was the sketch i chose.
{a Bonus Sketch from PageMaps, supplied by Scrapbook and Cards Today}

i flipped it around like this.

just a few minor changes. larger photos. slid the journaling block downwards. moved the title. no tickets. more flowers. and {many of my students will cheer for this one} left out the stitching.

the same. except different!

the title. cut from my Cricut. then i added perfect pearls and a coat of glossy accents.

there is that Tattered Pine Cone die....this time in the form of a rose. i cannot wait to teach the ruffled flower.

more roses. i love the wooden elements. they are amazing on their own. they are also amazing when they are altered. the list of altering these lovely pieces seems endless too.

do you notice that butterfly printed into the patterned pink paper? it is tough to spot. there is a second butterfly on the opposite page. yes, i arranged the papers on the layout just so that i could keep those butterflies as a part of the design. there were only 2 of them on the entire sheet of paper....that i could find.

this is the best part. perfect pearls on cardstock. if you like to get messy or enjoy altering embellishments to tailor your project....add this item to your wish list.

i LOVE products that have more than one use. this one is ridiculously versatile!

if you are wanting to purchase some of the products i used on this layout, here is a list:

{purchase the colours separately, or in a coordinating package - good deal because it also includes the right type of paintbrushes for a fraction of the cost. you will need a fluffy paintbrush and a fine tipped paintbrush for the techniques. lots of options to make the best purchase for your needs.}

{you will need the base tray or similar for these to cut properly}

now, looking at that list of photos makes me see how much die cutting and paper punching i will be doing as i prepare the kits this month. there will be several paper pieces to organize in class in February...small, extra small, super small, super duper small, too small.....

many little details and techniques. we'll have lots of fun and soon forget about our millions of flower petals flying around our work areas.

just a note about the January year in review layout....

when i was reflecting on the class after the Thursday group i was thinking that there were a number of techniques we learned and relearned. lots of information to remember. i did type all of the techniques into the instructions. i thought it might be fun and helpful if i put together a tutorial online for one of them: Printing on to Scrapbook Paper. it is a fabulous technique if you have a great printer, paper scraps and not a fan of your own handwriting. i will work on getting that completed this week.

a final thought about handwriting on your layouts...

maybe you like your own writing, but find it inconsistent. like me! you can get your own handwriting made into a font. there are a few services that do this online for a small cost. i found this great post from Simple Scrapper who has a few options for you. you could follow her advice and get a TrueType font created. i have not done this myself. ever since i have been away from teaching elementary kids and having my own babies, my handwriting has been on a downhill decline. when i ever get it back again...i will look into it for myself!
