messy stuff

i put this together about a month ago. i had had extra time....nothing for other projects to work on....and had a huge craving to create something just for me. this page was all about trying some new techniques and having fun. it was great to get messy!

i pulled out a white sheet of card stock, some stamps, versamark and clear embossing powder. i stamped a few spots and heat embossed them. then i added ink sprays. i picked a couple of blues and layered them on. i also wiped away at the excess ink on the embossed areas. i grabbed an old trading card and smeared some gesso in the centre. i had not expected the ink to still mix with the gesso....so it had a bit of a blue effect on it. fortunately i didn't have a firm expectation of the end results, and this worked out well.

but, seriously.... gesso and spray inks are as much fun for an adult as puddles and mud are for children and puppies. like a magnet! i bought some light molding paste this week and i can't wait to use it.



some of the My Mind's Eye Sunny Side is so perfect for photos of my kids. bright colours to match swimsuits and backyard water toys. the blues were a perfect match. as if i had planned it that way.



there is the close up of some of the embossing and gesso.

i also gave some edge punches a work out.



i think the layouts with the multiple layers under the photos are really neat. here i layered papers and tissue paper. no inking on the edges, just distressing.



the layout does not lay flat. ha! a few weeks in my album and then it will.

lots of layers. it was fun to add a zillion gems too. i love that they are random.

i also like how it looks like i had fun putting the page together {which is true....99% of the time!} i think it is perfect that the photo is filled with fun and the page itself matches that emotion.


also, this is a perfect example of being inspired by other scrapbookers. i can't send my thanks to just one person. i've seen this style on several blogs. it was definitely out of my comfort zone to try. i'm glad i did. it is good to try out other techniques and see how it marries with your own personal style. at least that is where i am at in my learning these days.
