canada eh?

my planning for this layout was different than any other i've done. this time i chose to scraplift another layout....but extend it into a 2 pager. it was her use of the Websters' Pages bloomers ribbon and the Maya Road kraft envelopes that grabbed my attention.

Karen also wrote an inspiring post on A Million Memories blogsite. Lain Ehmann started a blog, and gives a challenge to create a layout a day for an entire month. Karen took her up on it! it was inspiring to read how she took on the challenge and what she learned a long the way.

the lesson that really caught my attention was that she felt she grasped her style. in turn, she was able to put together her layouts that truly captured the story she wanted to share. as well as being more speedy in her process!

tempting!!

part of my enjoyment also comes from the time i spend playing with my options. on the other hand, it is also the same part of it that can be frustrating! just because i will sometimes have trouble going with a decision and i start over thinking the layout.

each month the design team at Urban is given the same products to create a layout. it is always amazing how unique they all are from one another. it is so cool to see them and think, 'oh! i never thought about trying that one...gotta add that to my must-try-one-day-list'. when i was a customer i always enjoyed looking at them and trying some of the techniques they used. not much has changed!

anyways. enough chatter. time to share some pics.

here is the next layout of the month.

you can see how i totally used Karen's ribbon and envelope idea. it was the starting point.

in all honesty, i think the typewriter paper in the background is one of my most favourite papers of all time. it is made by October Afternoon for their Thrift Shop line. i really hope they use it again with another of their lines. or something similar.

another title that ran through my mind was 'made in Canada'.

the photos were actually taken at several different places last July. the large one was at a Canada day festival, two were in Banff, one on a short trip to Calgary and the other here at Fort Edmonton. i did choose photos where Aidan had his Children's Place CANADA cap on! he is our little patriotic boy.

i really liked how these leaves turned out. i think the girls in the regular class will enjoy making them too! they will have had a 2 month break from making flowers. ha!

and this detail will be a quite fun for them too.

we do have a second class that is open for registration at the end of the month.

i'm in the middle of putting together the layout for August. just a little something for travel photos. i had to laugh because i really want to go with more of a beach feel....then i looked at my photos! would you believe that i did not take my kids to a beach even once all last summer?!!?! please don't report me to the mommy police! i won't make that same mistake again this summer. we are in the middle of planning our holiday vacation....beach is definitely part of that list.
