it's the little things

fall is definitely in the air. the kids have to dress warmly in the mornings so they don't get too cold on the way to school. but they are almost ready for shorts by the end of the day.

speaking of school. the first day came and went. as did the next three days. i had anticipated a quiet week. then i got a distress call from a friend who needed an extra helping hand. she has done so much for me, so it was great to be able to help her out this time around. as it was, it worked out well. i had forgotten to get things organized for Awana. there are a few things to finish, but the time-consuming work is done. it also helped to be busy. there was no time for missing my kids! the peace and quiet was quite refreshing. my plan next week is to enjoy a full week of scrapbooking. yay!!

i chose some photos from a few years ago. Aidan was almost 4 and Kiara had just turned two. the middle of our preschool and toddler years. when life was at its highest stress level. even though the days were really tough, i still do miss aspects of that time. look at those cute faces! how can i not miss those days?! ha!!

BoBunny Press came out with a gorgeous autumn set of papers. so amazing that you could just plunk your pictures on the paper and still have a lovely looking layout. but that would be a pretty boring class!!

Photobucket

yes, i still LOVE my Silhouette Cameo. lots of details cut out with that wonderful machine.

Photobucket

i did my best to keep my Vagabond equally used this time. lots of details. but i love that some of the details are super easy and quick. balance is a good thing!

Photobucket

the Sihouette store has great titles available. this would be a snap to make myself. but it was much easier to download the file this time.

Photobucket

lots of details and layers. it is still not too bulky. i think a few ladies will be thrilled by this!

Photobucket

i cannot wait to demonstrate this technique!

Photobucket

who doesn't love a paper rosette?! bring those hot glue guns.

can you spot something else? {besides the photo being rotated}

Photobucket

a brought back a favourite from a previous class.

Photobucket

an old technique, with a new twist.

we will certainly see smoke streaming from our fingertips..but this will be a fun class.

the sketch:

designed by Sketch Support. they took a break over the summer, but now they are back with new challenges.

this time i followed the sketch very closely.

i loved that it doesn't look too busy. there is definitely less space to embellish with more photos added.

here is a tip i've learned when it comes to your photos. i think there are very few "bad" photos. it is definitely a skill to take great picture of our kids...when they don't ever stand still! even with a fast camera it is tough. it really bugs me when the photo looks perfect in my camera viewfinder....then the fuzzy lines show up when i download it and look at it on my computer screen. if the photo is not so sharp and more on the blurry side then think about using it on a layout, but sized to a smaller size. with some photos, this trick actually makes them look sharper. save those awesome sharp photos to be sized larger. the layout will look great, you will have included your favourite photos and hopefully the whole story will be there.

looking forward to seeing my classes in a few weeks and enjoying the cool messy techniques in this layout. fun times!

thanks so much for your comments. i do love to read them. my goal for this year is to be more purposeful in leaving comments on other blogs. it does take a bit of time, which makes me appreciate comments here!
