another save!

it was great to have our first Art Camp be so successful. my friend who was the driving force and idea-extraordinaire behind the camp always does an amazing job planning events. the teachers and kids were all sad to say good-bye on Friday. we had 60 kids registered. it was crazy fun. i was so pleased that the paper projects were one of the biggest hits too. the clipboard from the last day was definitely a favourite of the kids too. another favourite was the pinwheel. it really is one of those designs that is loved by everyone. i think i was about 4 or 5 years old when my mom taught me how to make a large one from writing paper, pencil and a tack. here i am {a few years! later} still making them, fascinated by their design and teaching others.

between the garage sale, camping, art camp and preparing for art camp....life has been busy! not much time for anything else. even my August design team layout was finished just in time....and handed in a little bit late. after it was handed in i did a bit of shopping for myself. my new goodies are laying on my desk waiting for me to create. i can't wait! i have my to-do list...and then time to make my mess.

i have decided to be more intentional in making cards. it used to be that i made cards to experiment with techniques or get out of a design rut. there was never a shortage of cards to be had on short notice.

once again i realized i needed a card, but didn't have time to spend putting one together. my Silhouette Cameo saved the day. again.

the most time consuming part was actually choosing the paper. i found a cute new card design by one of their newest designers. after making the card i actually went back and purchased more designs. i loved how simple it was and how amazing the design turned out in real life.

the banner, cupcake liner and candle were cut out of the card base. but the flowers and flame were cut from another sheet.

i added glossy accents to the flame, then adhered it with a foam pop dot.

i used a stylus and foam to add dimension to the flowers. the flowers were cut out as one large piece. some of them i rolled away from the card and others towards it.

after the flowers were adhered, some with foam pop dots, i added the Melissa Frances pearls.
